A woman has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree animal cruelty for allegedly throwing his girlfriend dog into traffic on Interstate 205 Thursday night, causing it to attack and kill.
Shellie l. Hubbard, 45, Portland made his Friday morning at the Clark County Superior Court. The judge set bail at rich Melnick of $ 20,000 and was appointed District Attorney Jeff Sowder to represent him.
Hubbard, who also is charged with second-degree assault and domestic violence would be charged with possession of Methamphetamine, January 4.
State Troopers said Hubbard had a fight with his girlfriend, Darwin Vonschirmer, 45, while Vonschirmer was driving south of Interstate 205. When the car they approached Padden Parkway, Hubbard allegedly hit him with a cup of coffee breaks, slicing his hand, said the Washington State Patrol Trooper Ryan Tanner. The incident occurred just after 7 PM
Vonschirmer said the car was pulled over to the shoulder of the tanners. As they continue to argue, Hubbard let the dog out of the car. When Vonschirmer tried to scoop up the dog, he allegedly threw the animal into traffic.
